Opera browser offers navigation buttons in the toolbar to visit the previous page and the next page. You can tap on the left-facing arrow to navigate to the previous page and the right-facing arrow to move to the next page.
If you tap and hold the navigation buttons, it will display the list of pages that you have visited in the browsing session.
In this guide, I have shared written instruction about:
Navigate Backward to the Previous Page
Within the browsing session, if you’ve navigated a few pages and internal links, you will notice the back-facing arrow to navigate to the previous page. You can follow these steps:
- Launch the Opera browser app on your Android phone.
- Open any website and start navigating with its links.
- Tap the left-facing arrow button in the toolbar at the bottom. It will open the previously visited page.
As mentioned, the navigation button is activated only when you browse through the internal links. If you keep tapping the back-facing arrow, it will take you to the first page where you started the browsing session.
Navigate to the Next Page in the Opera app
Inverse to the back navigation, the next page navigation button is only active when you have used the backward navigation. If you’ve navigated back to the previous page, the forward-facing arrow is active.
- Launch the Opera browser app on your Android phone.
- Open any website and start navigating with its links.
- Tap the left-facing button to navigate to the previous page.
It shall activate the forward navigation button. - Now, tap on the right-facing button to navigate to the next page.
You can continue to navigate to the last page within the browsing session until the forward navigation button is disabled.
Open the Navigation History List
While browsing the website or pages, you will notice the navigational button is activated. If you tap and hold either of the active navigation buttons, it will display the list of pages that you’ve browsed in the current browsing sessions.
You can select the page to open directly without following the browsing sequence.
Otherwise, you can tap on the History command to open all browsing history and revisit the pages or sites.
Bottom Line
The navigation buttons ease the browsing experience and allow us to revisit the pages within the browsing session. If you hold the navigation button, it will display the list of pages that you have visited and choose one to reopen.
Note: If you close/exit the Opera app, the navigation session will be removed and it start again from the home page.
Similarly, you can navigate forward and previous pages in the Opera on the Computer. The computer browser offers a very similar function to the mobile browser.
