Remove Cookies for a Single Site in Chrome

A single website keeps signing you out, ignores the preferences you set, or loads a stale version of itself no matter how often you refresh. Cookies are usually behind it.

You can delete the saved cookies and on-device site data for that one site in Chrome on your computer, from the address bar or from the settings list, and leave every other site untouched.

In this guide, I have covered:

Delete cookies for just one website in Chrome

One site keeps logging you out, or it loads like it’s stuck on old settings. Stale cookies are the usual culprit, and you don’t have to wipe your whole Chrome profile to fix it.

Chrome uses cookies and on-device site data to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and load pages correctly. You can delete that data for a single website and leave every other site alone.

There are two ways in: the site information panel in the address bar, or Chrome’s main list of site data and permissions.

Remove the site’s cookies from the address bar

The fastest path is the page you’re already looking at. Use it when the website is open in a tab and you want its cookies gone right there.

  1. Open the website in Chrome.
  2. Select the padlock padlock icon or tune tune icon control beside the address to open View site information.
  3. Select Cookies and site data.
  4. Select Manage on-device site data.
  5. Select the trash trash icon control beside the website and confirm the deletion.

Reload the page. You’ll know it worked when the site treats you like a first-time visitor: a sign-in prompt, a fresh cookie banner, or default settings instead of your old ones.

TIP: If there’s no padlock in the address bar, look for the tune tune icon sliders instead. Both controls open the same panel.

Deleting cookies can sign you out of websites and remove saved preferences. Make sure you know the password or sign-in method for the site before deleting its data.

Delete site data through Chrome settings

Opening the site first isn’t always convenient. Chrome keeps a searchable list of everything sites have stored, and you can remove an entry from there without loading the page.

  1. Open the Chrome vertical 3-dots icon menu and select Settings.
  2. Select Privacy and security.
  3. Select Third-party cookies.
  4. Select See all site data and permissions.
  5. Enter the website’s name in the search box at the top right of the site data list.
  6. Select the trash trash icon control labeled Remove beside the matching site.
  7. Select Delete in the confirmation dialog.

Close the settings page and reload the website. Its cookies and on-device data are gone, and data for other sites stays exactly where it was.

Google’s official guide to deleting and managing Chrome cookies also covers how this list relates to third-party cookie permissions.

What to do if the site is not listed

Search the exact domain, such as example.com, not a shortened or misspelled version. If several entries share a domain, check you’re picking the right one before you delete anything.

Blank results usually mean Chrome has nothing stored for that site yet. Open the website, then use the address-bar method above. Chrome only adds a site to these lists once it has data worth keeping.

On a work or school Chromebook, managed browser policies can lock down cookie settings. If the options are greyed out, an administrator has to clear the site’s data or change the policy for you.

Remove cookies for a site on Chrome Android

On a phone or tablet the path is different, and you start from the site itself rather than from Settings.

  1. Open the website in Chrome on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Tap the page information control at the top-left of the address bar.
  3. Tap Cookies and site data.
  4. Tap Delete beside the stored data.

Reload the site to confirm the old cookie state is gone. If you’re also deciding what the browser should keep in future, allow or block cookies in Chrome on Android covers those toggles.

When to clear all browsing data instead

Sometimes the problem is bigger than one site, and repeating the steps above for each domain gets tedious. That’s when Delete browsing data from the Chrome menu makes sense: pick a time range, tick Cookies and other site data, and clear it.

Just know what you’re trading. This route signs you out of multiple websites and drops preferences across Chrome, which is overkill when a single site is misbehaving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clear cookies for only one site in Chrome?

Open the site, select the padlock padlock icon or tune tune icon control beside the address, and choose Cookies and site data → Manage on-device site data. Delete the site’s stored data there.

Does deleting one site’s cookies remove my Chrome history?

No. Killing one site’s cookies leaves the rest of your browsing history alone, and other websites keep their own data.

Will removing cookies sign me out of the website?

It can. If the site uses a cookie to hold your session, you’ll sign in again after the deletion, and preferences stored in cookies go with it.

Why can’t I find the site in Chrome’s site data list?

Search the exact domain, and visit the site once so Chrome has a reason to store data for it. After that, the address-bar panel will show the cookies you can delete.
