Clear Cache and Data of Any Android App

Are you trying to clear an Android phone's app cache and storage data? Learn how to free up space and improve app performance by clearing cache and data.

The Apps on Android phone do have the ability to save the data in local device storage. The data can be the database information or the cache file that’s used for faster performance. The Android OS offers the option to clear this saved data from the device storage under the Apps Settings page. You can individually clear cache and storage for installed application.

Clear Cache and Data of Any Android App

Most apps installed on Android phones save the information in local storage, which helps improve the App’s performance and remember the login credentials. In the case of streaming and social networking apps, the videos and image files are downloaded and stored as cache files that take up substantial storage space, which continue to grow over a period of time.

This accumulated cache and storage data can result in poor app performance and often lead to issues. Hence, we should consider clearing the cache and storage data occasionally to claim the device’s storage space and resolve the application issues.

Clearing the cache will remove obsolete data files and improve the overall Android phone performance. However, clearing the storage can remove the App’s specific information like databases, app settings, login information, and other important files. Hence, you might need to log in to the application again with your credentials and configure the app settings.

Clear Cache and Storage Data

For web browsers, you can clear the cache and data within the browser settings page. However, for other apps, you might need to visit the phone settings to view and delete the stored data.

You can also clear the space occupied by the Android System apps, which cannot be uninstalled without root access.

Here are the steps to clear the cache and storage data in your Android phone on any app:

  1. Open Settings and select the Apps menu on your Android phone.

You can notice the updated storage space of the App after clearing the data, and it will be very minimal compared to pre-removal.

Bottom Line

Android apps use the phone’s storage space to save and process information for smooth functioning. The storage can grow over time, resulting in loading issues or even leading to crashes.

Hence, periodically watching the cache and storage space every App occupies is recommended. If you notice any app that has grown significantly, you should consider clearing the App’s data to avoid mishaps.

Clearing the cache and other apps’ storage data often rectifies the underlying issues that happen. Hence, you should consider it a primary method for resolving the loading and crashing issues.

Similarly, we can clear any App’s data from an iPhone or iPad to fix any loading or crashing issues. But the steps are a bit tricky for an Apple users.
