How to Clear History, Cookies, Cache and Reset in Chrome PC?

Every browser stores the information about the browsing history, cookies, and files cache to improve user experience. If you’re not willing to store any of these data, then, of course, you can browse in incognito mode in Chrome.

But what about the data that’s already collected in the browser? Do not worry about it! A week back, I was facing the problem of system lag on my chrome computer. It was hindering all my work and I had to find a way out of it.

Google Chrome and every other browser do have a built-in option to delete and clear the data that has been recorded to date. You can remove browsing history, the site cookies, and the file caches from the browser anytime you need.

How to Clear Browsing History in Chrome Computer?

As mentioned, every page you visit and every keyword you search in chrome browser is stored and recorded into the browser storage.

Chrome offers the ability to delete the browsing history and also provides the drop-down option to choose the time range that you want to clear the history of.

Here are the steps to clear the browsing history on the chrome browser on any computer device:

  1. Launch the Google Chrome browser on Computer.
  2. Click on vertical 3dots icon the menu for options.
  3. Select Settings from the list.
  4. Scroll down to the Privacy and Security section, and select the Clear browsing data option.
  5. To clear the only history, just choose the time range and enable the check box against Browsing history.
  6. Hit on the Clear data command button.

This will completely delete the browsing history and also remove any traces of your browsing from the chrome browser. The history will be also deleted from the Google account.

How to Clear Cache Computer and Cookies data in Chrome Computer?

The browser cache plays an important role in maintaining the fast loading of frequently visited sites. Whereas, the cookies help in staying signed-in on the browser.

  3. Select Settings from the list.

  6. Select on Restore settings to their original defaults option.
  7. Hit on the Reset settings command button.

This will completely remove all the cache, cookies, and all the information that we have been storing in the chrome browser.

You will also be logged out of the Google account. But your synced data like bookmarks, history, address auto-fill, and saved passwords will not be cleared and reappear when you sign-in again. The reset chrome should be used carefully.

I do clear the browsing history and cache files quite frequently (twice a month). After I clear all this data, my system works well and does not lag in any way. Hence, it is very necessary to clear all this data before it starts accumulating a lot of space.

Similarly, we can also clear the history, cookies, and cache in the chrome android browser. There is no in-built option to reset the settings in chrome android, however, you can simply clear the storage and cache from Apps settings in android.
