The Chrome Android theme setting is set to the system default. That means, if your phone is set to dark mode, then chrome will automatically camouflage to dark skin. If the phone’s skin is in light, then Chrome will be in the light. Anyways, we have the option to choose the theme irrespective of the phone’s default settings.

The light theme has been there since the inception of browsers. Almost all the browsers default to light or white skin until 2018 when the dark theme came into existence.

The difference between light and dark mode is not only just in terms of appearance but also in how it affects battery performance. The light theme consumes extra power for brightness as compared to the dark theme.

The light theme or white theme has been since the incubation of the chrome browser. If you do not like the chrome dark mode, then you can switch back to the light mode in the chrome browser on android.

Here are the steps to enable light theme on Chrome Android:

  1. Launch Google Chrome for Android.
  2. Tap onvertical 3dots icon the menu for more options
  3. Select Settings from the list
  4. Tap on the Themes tab to open
  5. Select the Light option radio button
  6. Relaunch the browser and experience the light theme skin in Chrome Android
