Learn how to completely block the camera and microphone access permission to all websites on the Safari browser on the iPhone or iPad.

These have been multiple reports and new outbreaks about the privacy invasion by apps and major internet giants. One way to protect the privacy and avoid data theft is by blocking all the permissions within the phone that you think is irrelevant for any website.

The Safari browser does offer a feature to either enable or disable the basic features and permissions like sound, camera, microphone, storage, etc. Hence, its completely in our control whether to allow or block the permissions to any specific settings.

Though some website genuinely needs access, like Google Voice Search need microphone access. But like I mentioned, it up to you whether you want to use this extra feature from the Safari browser.

How to Block Camera Permission for Safari iOS?

You can easily block permission for camera access requested from the website on the Safari browser for iOS or iPadOS.

Here are the steps to block camera access to safari iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and choose the Safari browser from Settings.
  3. From Safari Settings, tap on the Camera option.
  4. Choose the option Deny to block all the websites requesting the camera permission.

This will completely block the camera access to any website and do not allow even the permission to ask whether allowing or disallowing. This will have very little impact on the website usage based on your use.

How to Block Microphone Permission for Safari iOS?

You can similarly block permission for microphone access requested from the website on the Safari browser for iOS or iPadOS.

Here are the steps to block microphone access to safari iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and choose the Safari app browser from Settings.
  3. From Safari Settings, tap on the Microphone option.
  4. Choose the option Deny to block all the websites requesting the microphone permission.

I do not allow any websites to access my Macbook’s camera or microphone. However, whenever it’s utmost necessary, like join a video conference or teams call, then I allow permissions. Though that’s temporary permission.
