Looking for the bookmark star in Chrome for Android? It moved. Bookmarks now live inside the More menu, with a full manager for folders, search, and sorting. You can still save, open, edit, delete, organize, and sync Chrome Android bookmarks in a few taps. The steps below also cover how to bookmark every open tab at once.
In this guide, I have covered:

How to Find Bookmarks in Chrome on Android
If the bookmark star next to the address bar is gone, you are not missing it. Recent Chrome versions on Android moved the star from the toolbar into the three-dot More menu. Google’s official Chrome Help page for bookmarks on Android documents the current layout.
To save, edit, and manage bookmarks in Chrome on Android, open the bookmarks manager:
- Tap More
in the top-right corner. - Tap Bookmarks.
TIP: If your address bar sits at the bottom of the screen, swipe up on the address bar first. That reveals the toolbar with the More
menu.
You should see the bookmarks manager now: a search bar at the top, a list of folders with Mobile Bookmarks at the top, and a Sort and view options button in the top-right corner.
Save a Page to Bookmarks
When you have a page worth keeping, the star inside More
is the fastest way to save it.
- Tap More
in the top-right corner. - Tap the star icon labeled "Add to bookmarks" at the top of the menu.
Chrome saves the page to the Mobile Bookmarks folder right away. If the star is already filled in, the page is already saved. Tap the filled star to remove it from bookmarks.
Open and Search a Saved Bookmark
To open a saved page, head into the bookmarks manager and pick it from the list. When the folder has grown large, search beats scrolling.
- Tap More
, then tap Bookmarks. - Open the Mobile Bookmarks folder.
- Tap any link to open it in the current tab.
The search bar sits at the top of the bookmarks manager. Type a few letters from the page title or URL, and Chrome filters the list immediately. That shortcut helps when Mobile Bookmarks runs into the hundreds.
To open a bookmark in private browsing:
- Long-press a bookmark to select it.
- Tap More
in the top bar. - Choose Open in incognito tab.
The incognito guide for Chrome on Android covers the rest of the private-browsing workflow.
Edit a Saved Bookmark
If a page moves, gets a new URL, or lands in the wrong folder, edit the bookmark instead of saving a new one.
- Tap More
, then tap Bookmarks. - Open Mobile Bookmarks or another folder and find the entry to change.
- Tap More
next to the bookmark, then choose Edit.
In the Edit Bookmark screen you can change the Name, change the URL, or tap Folder to move the entry. Tap the back arrow at the top to save your changes and return to the list.
You’ll know it worked when the updated name appears in the folder list.
Delete a Saved Bookmark
If a bookmark points to a dead page or no longer adds value, delete it.
- Tap More
, then tap Bookmarks. - Open Mobile Bookmarks or the folder you used.
- Tap More
next to the entry, then choose Delete.
You can also delete from the Edit screen with the trash icon at the top-right. Same result, different route. With Chrome sync on, the deleted entry disappears from every signed-in device within seconds.
Organize Bookmarks With Folders, Sort, and View
When Mobile Bookmarks grows into a long list, folders and sorting bring back the signal. Use these tools after you have saved enough links that the list starts to blur together.
Create a new folder
- Tap More
, then tap Bookmarks. - Tap Sort and view options at the top-right and choose Create new folder.
- Name the folder and tap .
Sort and change the view
The same Sort and view options button also controls list order. Pick manual, newest, oldest, last opened, A-Z, or Z-A. Visual view shows site thumbnails, and Compact view lists favicons only.
Rearrange by drag-and-drop
To manually reorder entries, touch and hold a bookmark, then drag it up or down to a new spot. Release to drop it into place. Drag-and-drop works best while Sort by is set to Manual.
Move a bookmark to a different folder
- From inside a folder's list, tap More
next to an entry. - Choose Move to....
- Pick the destination folder and tap .
Use this when a long-saved URL belongs with related sites.
Bookmark All Open Tabs at Once
When you have a group of tabs open for a research session, save them all in one pass instead of tapping the star on each tab.
- Tap the Tabs icon at the top of Chrome to open the tab switcher.
- Tap More
inside the tab grid. - Choose Bookmark all tabs.
- Enter a folder name and confirm.
Chrome creates a new folder with every currently open tab inside it.
Sync Your Chrome Bookmarks Across Devices
If you expect bookmarks to appear on your other devices, sync needs to be on. Bookmarks follow you between phone and computer when Chrome sync is active and linked to the same Google account.
If a saved page on your phone does not show up on your computer within a minute, check sync on your phone:
- Tap More
> Settings. - Open your account.
- Confirm Sync is on with Bookmarks enabled.
The same setting controls saved passwords. See the guide on managing saved passwords in Chrome on Android if logins are missing too.
Chrome bookmark sync does not carry into a separate browser. If you also use Brave on Android, saved data stays in that app. For the desktop side of bookmark management, the bookmark guide for Chrome on a computer walks through the same save, edit, and organize flow on the larger screen.
To understand how saved links travel between devices, the guide on what bookmarks and favorites are gives the broader picture. Set sync up once, and your saved pages stay available wherever you sign in.

June 2023, and my bookmark star disappeared months ago, and no way to quickly do it, only the longer manual way. Switching browsers, nothing but issues with chrome for way too long, and through TOO many updates.
Hello Jane, the Chrome browser has the sync feature that automatically synchronize the data between devices when connected with same Google account. By any chance you deleted the bookmarks from any one device? It’s possible that you’ve deleted it from one device and bookmarks from other devices are removed.
