The Microsoft Edge browser allows JavaScript execution by default; however, there are a few instances when you need to block the JavaScript, especially when the website loads an unauthorized script into the browser and tries to hack into our data.
JavaScript has been widely used by developers these days to make the website more interactive and pleasing. But, if we block the JavaScript code, these websites might not work as intended. Hence, we do need to keep the JavaScript running for some websites.
But, in case you are trying to figure out whether to keep JavaScript running or blocked, here is my suggestion — Block the JavaScript execution and add sites to the exception list that you want to run the JavaScript code on.
Block JavaScript
With a single toggle, you have the Microsoft option to disable Jscript on the websites you are unsure about. It helps you stay secure and stress-free at all times. Here are the steps to disabling JavaScript:
- Launch Microsoft Edge for the Android.
- Tap on the More
menu for options
- Select the Settings menu from the options list.
- Tap on the Privacy and Security.
- Scroll down to the Site Permissions option, and tap on it.
- Choose the JavaScript option from the list, and set it to Allowed by default.
- Disable the toggle to block the JavaScript settings.
It will block the JavaScript execution within the browser for all the websites.
Please note that most website builds and runs on JavaScript these days. Hence, as mentioned earlier, there are chances that a few websites might not work as intended after blocking JavsScript. In that case, we have something known as exceptions. It allows JavaScript to run only on the websites listed in exceptions.
Simply add the URL address of the website you must add as an exception for allowing JavaScript execution. The JS script will still be blocked for the rest of the website.
Enable JavaScript Execution
If the website is not responding correctly after blocking the javascript, you can easily enable it on all sites within the Android browser. For that, one should know how to enable JavaScript in Edge.
- Enable the toggle to Allow the JavaScript settings.
It will enable JavaScript on your Edge browser for Android. The JavaScript execution is enabled by default. However, you can disable or enable it per your needs.
Bottom Line
You can either enable or block the JavaScript execution on the Edge browser. As mentioned, the default setting is enabled, but it’s a personal choice to disable or block javascript if you think it harms your system.
I prefer to keep the JavaScript blocked and only whitelist the websites that need JavaScript execution. I suggested the same to my friend, who badly needed my help blocking JavaScript on his Android phone. I told him about the Microsoft option to disable Jscript in Android OS. He was happy and did not worry about his information getting hacked now.
Similarly, you can enable or block javascript in the Edge computer browser on Windows or Mac computers. The options to control JavaScript within the Edge desktop browser are better than the Edge Android browser.
Please share your setup for JavaScript on your device. Did you enable Javascript on the Edge browser?
